Computer Skills Courses
The BYNC has a Community Technology Center (CTC) that allows its users to acquire the basic skills necessary to operate a PC by providing access to computers and the BYNC’s knowledgeable staff. Business owners, neighborhood children, and job seekers all benefit from the Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council’s CTC.
It is safe to say that knowledge of computers is a necessity in the modern world and modern job market. The structured computer classes allow participants to learn the basic skills of computer use, including: using the cursor, the mouse, creating and saving a file, opening files, closing files, setting margins, editing files, using different types of fonts and sizes, mastering the use of the printer, and being able to write basic letters and documents on Microsoft Word. We also offer advanced level classes that instruct participants in advanced applications and uses of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.
Furthermore, access to a computer is a huge help when you’re trying to find a job. The BYNC CTC permits community residents to use word processors and other programs to complete their resumes with the help of opur staff, and it allows them to research topics on the Internet.
