HRAIL

Home Repair for Accessible and Independent Living

The H.R.A.I.L. Program was first implemented in 1982.  The goal of the Program is to serve senior citizens 60 years or older by providing them with free home repairs, allowing them to continue living independently and safely in their housing units.  This program is funded by a grant from the City of Chicago’s Department of Housing, and the grant is used to repair 42 senior citizen households a year.

This is a service that, similar to our shuttle service, prevents seniors who would not have been able to afford to maintain their homes from being forced to leave the community.

The Applicants to the HRAIL program are subject to a home inspection.  They also must be at least 60 years old and below 80 percent of the Chicago-area median income as measured by the U.S. Census Bureau.  Please call Jim Gonska for more information, (773) 523-4416.
