Senior Shuttle Bus

The BYNC provides programming for children and youth, families, and individuals. One of our most critical and successful services is the “Safe Passages” Program. The BYNC operates a small-bus transportation service that provides door-to-door, convenient, safe, and free transportation for the senior citizens in our area; allowing them to remain independent and self-sufficient.

The BYNC is committed to taking action when it comes to supporting the mobility and transportation needs of our seniors at the community level. We provide for the mobility needs of senior citizens in order to promote their independence, enabling them to exercise greater control over their lives and the many contributions that they make to our community. This mobility expands the opportunities for our elderly to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives.

The Primary goal of this program is to provide free transportation to a variety of critical destinations for the senior citizens in the Back of the Yards area. These destinations include:

  • Doctor’s appointments
  • Mercy Hospital
  • Grocery stores
  • Shopping centers
  • Pharmacies
  • Bank
  • Senior Clubs and recreational activities

To register for a ride, a senior must call our office at (773) 523-4416 by noon on the day before the requested ride (Friday if requesting a ride for Monday).  Our bus drivers will then call the senior by 5:00 with a pick-up time.
