Cubs Charities, Local Initiatives Support Corporation Chicago (LISC Chicago), Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council (BYNC) and the Chicago Park District celebrated the completion of a Cubs Charities Diamond Project grant at Davis Square Park.

BYNC was a 2014 recipient of a Cubs Charities Diamond Project grant. BYNC applied for the Diamond Project grant to make field improvements to the two baseball diamonds located at Chicago Park District’s Davis Square Park. Improvements included the installation of a new electronic scoreboard, pitching mound, infield bases, home plates and bleachers.

The goal of Cubs Charities Diamond Project is to expand opportunities for children to play baseball and softball, create or preserve green space in underserved neighborhoods and to foster a love of the game. Through the Diamond Project, Cubs Charities provides funds to non-profit, neighborhood-based organizations to support capital improvement projects that improve the quality, safety and accessibility of local baseball and softball fields or indoor training facilities with the technical assistance ofLocal Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) Chicago.
