Sabores had its grand opening on January 5, 2012 to very enthusiastic reviews from diners. The family friendly restaurant will feature traditional Mexican specialties like tamales, tortas, enchiladas, and carne asada. The Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council in collaboration with the Community and Economic Development Association of Cook County (CEDA), is now taking ALL applications for the low-income home energy assistance program (LIHEAP). SSA #10 maintenance crew were on the move to begin plowing the streets in the Back of the Yards Retail Business area on 47th Street and Ashland Avenue as the first snowfall hit the streets in Chicago.
Special Service Area (SSA) #13, also known as the Stockyards Industrial Park, is one of the most storied areas in the Midwest. Immortalized in Upton Sinclair’s novel, The Jungle, the Stockyards is largely responsible for the births of the communities that surround the area.
