Corridor Ambassadors is a new program to make the Back of the Yards a more welcoming neighborhood, improve and increase pedestrian experience on 47th and Ashland, and provide assistance to neighborhood residents, visitors, and shoppers.
Corridor Ambassadors will be expected to work outdoors in pairs. They will continuously walk back and forth in a designated area of Ashland Ave or 47th St. While walking, ambassadors should greet residents and shoppers, inform them about community events and activities, provide directions if asked, and get to know the staff and managers of local businesses. Spanish speakers are preferred, but not required.
Also, Ambassadors will need to connect with public safety resources, including the Chicago Police Department, about safety and security. When necessary, this includes reporting illegal or unwanted activities.
